DASBT- D Aluminum Whistle played by Brian McCoy and guitar played by Kim Rattan of the Kells. Click here to view The Kells CD availble on our website.

DASBT- D Aluminum Session Black Tipped: Bright and clear tone with good overall volume but not shrill or harsh in the upper octave and with a nice low end and moderate air requirements and a very fast transient response and excellent tuning and intonation. The Aluminum alloy makes this model light in weight and polished to a bright finish. Favorite of Joanie Madden and Brian McCoy and many Professional Studio Musicians as well as many beginners who find it very forgiving and easy to play.

A WONDERFUL whistle!!! Sound a bit like my older rosewood Sweetheart Pro D, but with a slightly quieter sound, a more focused, clearer tone, and much less breathiness. The (optional) thumbhole makes for a ton of interesting ornamentation options as well!!! THANKS!!!!!!!

I received this whistle yesterday as a slightly late Christmas present and WOW! It has great volume but not nearly as piercing as my susato, and it barely takes anything to play. No matter what speed, the ornaments sound perfect on this whistle, and when doing those "|gAfA eAdA|" kind of bars, this whistle doesn't squeak when I'm doing them, and it makes them sound very nice and "bouncy". An excellent whistle! Thanks Michael!

I own practically every key of whistle that Mike fabricates. But the real testimony to his skill is that I have recently had a string of my whistle students insisting that they get a DBSBT themselves. When they "move up" to this instrument, their playing improves. Certainly, the player can make the whistle too, but you cannot ignore the delightful positive comments from my students who have "upgraded" to Mike's AL-PRO series. Want to hear some of Mike's lower whistles? Go to www.mcleanbible.org on Sunday, April 27 and click on "Internet Campus". As always, thanks for being there for all of us, Mike.

I own this great whistle, and I had the thumbhole added, which is a huge help when playing!! It's a very nice whistle and sounds good. One of the few downsides is that it's hard to play any note higher than a high A and when I do it's rather harsh and hurts people's ears--this may be due to the wider bore. However, every note up to and including high A sounds wonderful. I don't think this particular whistle has a very Irish tone to it, but it can easily be played in the Irish style. Overall, a wonderful, reliable instrument.

I have tried quite afew High D's and this one is exceptionaly good. I really like it. It is lovely and light and very responsive. Doesn't require alot of breath and has a bright joyful soft edged tone that records evenly well right up into the third octave. You can rely on repeated ornaments of the top notes with abit of practice, territory which is very perilous on some whistles I've got and has to be avoided. Get one!
